Sadly on the Morning of Wednesday the 8th of April 2009 Greg passed away.
He will be sadly missed by many!
The loss of Greg Thomas, aged 16 and seemingly with everything to live for, was marked by a minute’s applause before Hereford United played Leicester City on Saturday.
United striker Steve Guinan dedicated his goal during the game to the stalwart young supporter and the rest of the team signed a flag.
Grand National winning trainer Venetia Williams also paid tribute to Greg, who worked for a time at her Kings Caple stables.
Greg was found dead in his bedroom at the family home in Holmer, Hereford, early last Wednesday morning after a night out in the city.
Police are treating the death as unexplained with detectives investigating on behalf of the county coroner. The inquiry team can confirm that no-one is being sought in connection with the death.
Family members describe Greg as a thoughtful, loving and caring young man, permanently attached to his iPod but quick to share a cheeky smile and a cheery word.
Having just left Hereford’s Aylestone High School, Greg was thinking over what he wanted out of life. It seemed he was ready to follow his dad Rob into the building trade with a job at Glosford Timber Solutions and the possibility of a construction course at Herefordshire College of Technology.
For a time he was looking to make something out of his love of horses, having been accepted for jockey training at the British Racing School, only to decide that it was not for him at that point.
Greg did work for a while at Venetia Williams’ stables. The top trainer, who celebrated a sensational Grand National win last week, said her part-time stable lad was a hard and conscientious worker who quickly took up a keen interest in racing.
~♥X♥~ ON YOUR HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY ~♥X♥~
MAY THE RAINBOW BE YOUR ROLLERCOASTER AND THE CLOADS YOUR PILLOW AT THE END OF THE DAY. XXXX
I thought I saw you today,
Walking in that special way;
Then reality set in,
And I knew it couldn’t have been.
But for the briefest moment,
I was able to pretend;
And think of all the great things,
That really should have been.
But a brief moment to pretend,
Was all I was allowed;
As the boy who looked like you,
Walked into the crowd.
I wanted to follow him,
Get a glimpse, maybe a hug;
But I knew it wasn’t you,
The one I truly love.
So I wiped away my tears,
And slowly walked away;
My broken heart was aching,
Because I thought I saw you today.
Love from Liz, Stuart Maxwell's mum x
No matter how far you are,
I will always be very near.
Even if you whisper quietly,
I will always be able to hear.
Whenever you need me,
I will answer your call
And catch you on my wings,
if you should begin to fall.
When you are troubled,
and filled with despair
I'll guide you to the light,
with the power of a prayer.
I will be your warm shelter,
in life's unpredictable storms
Your needle and thread,
if your heart has been torn.
A shoulder for you to cry on,
when your tears need to flow.
The loving and caring heart,
your heart needs me to show.
Your giver of new hope,
when all your faith has gone
The strength that you will need,
if it's hard for you to be strong.
A lighthouse to guide you,
when you have lost your way
The arms holding you close,
when your thoughts go astray.
For I am forever your Angel;
guardian of all your life brings,
Ready for whenever you call me,
to wrap you safely in my wings xxxxx
Although you cannot see me
Don't believe that I am gone
My spirit still remains
To help you carry on.
Lift your hands to Heaven
And that glimpse of light you see
May be the hope you're seeking
Found inside of me.
A life may wane and wither
And eventually fade from view
The energy transforms to light
Still to be sensed by you.
Don't assume I cannot see you
Just because you can't see me
I'm standing right beside you
Where I always want to be.
Love and God Bless
